Delices and Gourmandises wine cellar could not miss the wines of Alsace, especially the Riesling which is one of the oldest white grape varieties.
The Riesling presented by Delices and Gourmandises
The Riesling is a very old grape variety which was originally planted by the Rhine catchment. It was created from the Gouais grape variety, brought from Croatia by the Romans. Cultivated since the 15th century in Alsace, the Riesling becomes the first Alsatian grape variety.
It is mainly cultivated in Germany who has 22 000ha planted with Riesling. In France it can be principally found in the department of Rhin and Moselle. But it is also planted in Australia, South Africa, USA, Romania, etc…
The Riesling is one of the grape varieties that can adapt themselves in most of soil types, and has a high tolerance for coldness and frost. However, it can no endure heat and dryness. It needs also a long wall and must be attached.
When this grape variety is vinified, it is called Alsace, Alsace wine or Alsace Grand cru. It produces a high quality dry white wine, strong with great aromas that can vary according to the soils. These qualities have been noticed by Delices and Gourmandises. Its late-harvest gives a strong liqueur wine.
The dry Riesling proposed by Delices and Gourmandises
Delices and Gourmandises proposes us an AOC Alsace wine. The Moulin de Dusenbach is a great wine made only this grape variety. It can be drunk with the Alsatian speciality the sauerkraut, with grilled fishes, chicken or accompany a Goat cheese.
You can drink your Riesling within the year of production or keep the unopened bottle for several years, until 10 years in the best conditions. If you want to keep it, keep an eye of the temperatures of your wine cellar.
